ROUTES THROUGH THE HILLS AND RIDGES
Cycling in Grezzana is a special way to explore the area, pedalling through woods, hills, ancient hamlets, vineyards and olive groves. The routes offer itineraries suitable for different fitness levels, from the shortest rides to the most challenging excursions, allowing you to experience nature and admire the views of the Valpantena at a leisurely, sustainable and immersive pace.
The signposting helps you find your way along the route: orange signs indicate walking routes, whilst blue signs are for cycle routes.
Below are the routes mapped out by the municipality of Grezzana:
The most challenging is Route A1 – Giro del Monte Comun by bike, a 23.4-kilometre route with 700 metres of elevation gain, ideal for cycling and mountain biking enthusiasts looking for a comprehensive and scenic route.
Route B1 – Cycling to Corrubio, Orsara and Lughezzano covers 11.5 kilometres with 350 metres of elevation gain, passing through some of the area’s most picturesque villages.
Route C1 – Cycling along the Rosaro and Praole ridges is the longest, at 19 kilometres with 440 metres of elevation gain. An itinerary suitable for those wishing to spend a whole day enjoying exercise and exploration.
Finally, Route D1 – A cycle tour of the Castello and Santa Viola mountains offers a 21-kilometre route with 730 metres of elevation gain: a challenging route, but one that offers an intense experience amongst the hills and landscapes of the area.
Through vineyards, olive groves and panoramic views
The Grezzana area is not just about woods and mountains. Some routes also showcase the agricultural landscape and the variety of local crops.
Route D2 – Towards La Colombara through woods, vineyards and olive groves, 6.6 kilometres long with a 250-metre elevation gain, is particularly interesting for those wishing to discover the more rural and productive side of the hills.
Route C1, on the other hand, takes cycling enthusiasts along the ridgeline of Rosaro and Praole, whilst Route D4 allows you to reach Monte Santa Viola starting from Azzago.
A region to enjoy all year round
The network of trails is designed to encourage people to explore the region and showcase its hamlets, offering an experience of slow, sustainable tourism. The local council has also planned improvements to enhance and make the trails safer, with new panoramic information boards and rest areas along the routes.
