Flavio Cottini
HISTORY, INNOVATIVE IDEAS, AND LOTS OF LOVE
Company objective
Our family works in the vineyard with passion and dedication, embracing the knowledge and customs that are part of the farming tradition of Valpolicella. Our goal is to create a simple, genuine and sincere wine.
A wine that, in Flavio's words, ‘el sia bon!’ (is good!)
Vineyards
The company has about 13 hectares of vineyards between Fumane and San Pietro in Cariano, all cultivated using the Veronese pergola method. The main grapes are typical of Valpolicella: Rondinella, Corvina and Corvinone, ideal for the production of Amarone.
Family
The founder of the winery is grandfather Giuseppe, who has been growing vines since the 1960s. His son Flavio took over in the 1990s, significantly increasing and enriching wine production. Today, it is Matilde, Bepi's granddaughter and Flavio's daughter, who carries on the family tradition and the art of loving this work. This is how today's Società Agricola Flavio Cottini was born, based in Fumane, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica.
Harvest
The harvest is manual and selective. The best and sparsest bunches are placed in crates and dried in a well-ventilated fruit cellar to concentrate the sugars. These grapes are used to make Amarone and Recioto.
The remaining grapes, harvested afterwards, are used to produce Valpolicella Classico and Superiore.
