Palazzo Montanari

Palazzo Montanari is a Venetian Villa with a dovecote tower dating back to the 14th century, located on the Bure hill, in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica. The recently renovated Villa has several rooms with restored frescoes from the Renaissance period that make it a unique location capable of combining territory, product, hospitality and art.

An important part of the villa is the "brolo": a natural amphitheatre with rows of vines placed on the classic dry "marogne", with a particularly sunny south-east exposure that is affected by the beneficial influence of the air that rises in the morning and evening comes down from the Fumane valley. The dry, calcareous and rich in skeleton soil guarantees the highest quality of the grapes, an indispensable starting point for producing high-class wines. According to the RRR sustainable protocol, the vineyards are currently cultivated and the transition to organic farming is underway.

In 2001 Massimo Nicolis decides to buy the villa with an adjoining vineyard, previously rented. Raised in a family dedicated to wine production, he inherited the passion, skills and secrets to obtain excellent wines from his father Angelo and his wife Natalia.

Now, together with his wife Susanna, his three children Giulia, Andrea and Anna and his sister Mariella, he manages the cellar of Palazzo Montanari as well as the entire structure of which he has been following the conservative restoration work for years, creating a unique environment where the past and present coexist in harmony.
